During the month on May this year, AIMS members petitioned Australian Politicians at the State and Federal level to support the international recognition for a Greek Language Day. The proposed International Day of Greek Language aims to accentuate the Greek language’s status as a universal cultural asset and conduit of thought and also to elevate Greece’s standing and contribution to European civilization.
The petition has been received favourably by Australian Politicians. As an example of the support we have received from the Australian Government, attached is a letter from the Minister for Multiculturalism, the Hon. Steve Kamper MP.
