As part of the 2024 South African Film Festival, which will be taking place from the 2nd to the 30th of May in Australia and New Zealand, a documentary titled “George Bizos ICON” will be screened in selected cinemas. The documentary is about the life of George Bizos, a Greek refugee who migrated to South Africa during the Second World War and became a human rights lawyer who defended Nelson Mandela and campaigned against apartheid in South Africa.

For those planning to attend the Melbourne screening, the documentary will be shown on the 8th of May at 6:30pm at the Classic cinemas, 9 Gordon Street, Elsternwick. The film will be followed by a Q&A with Alexi Bizos (son of George Bizos) and Jane Lipman (Director), moderated by Jenny Webb.
