This is the final of a series of three lectures held in Melbourne at the Lyceum Theatre of Alphington Grammar School. In this lecture Dr. Hatzidimitriou spoke about the destruction of Christianity in Asia Minor covering the periods from the 13th to the 20th Centuries, which culminated in the acts by the Kemalist Turks from 1909-1923 and referencing American sources for the latter period. His extensive expertise in Byzantine, Ottoman, and Modern Greek history, coupled with his acclaimed publications, provided an engaging and insightful exploration of this important historical subject. The event was moderated by Prof. A. M. Tamis. The lecture was held on the evening of the 27th of October 2023.
The series of lectures was made possible by the Australian Institute of Macedonian Studies in collaboration with the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria, Alphington Grammar and the Branch of the National Foundation of Research “Eleftherios Venizelos”.
